Pakistan made it two in a row and wrapped up the T20I series against Bangladesh with another convincing performance, winning the second match by 57 runs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. It was a complete team effort this time around, with the batters putting up a solid total and the bowlers making sure Bangladesh never got close.
The hosts got things going after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Sahibzada Farhan, who replaced Fakhar Zaman for this game, didn’t waste any time and smashed a brilliant 74 off just 41 balls. Six sixes and four fours - talk about making an impact! Hasan Nawaz also chipped in with a blistering knock at the end, staying unbeaten on 51 from 26 balls to push Pakistan past the 200-run mark.
Bangladesh tried to claw their way back into the game, but those two fifties from Farhan and Nawaz pretty much did the job, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb.
The chase looked promising at first for Bangladesh. They raced to 44 without losing a wicket in the fourth over. Tanzid Hasan was in the mood, cracking 33 off 19 balls. But then things went downhill fast. The seamers did the trick early, and wickets started tumbling one after the other. Bangladesh went from 44-0 to 77-7 in no time, and any hopes of leveling the series evaporated right there.
Abrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, spinning a web around the Bangladeshi batters and finishing with figures of 3-19. His spell was a big reason why Bangladesh never recovered after that early collapse. Captain Salman Ali Agha was obviously over the moon about this win, especially since it was Pakistan’s first T20 series win at home in more than three years.
So, that’s the series done and dusted for Pakistan. The final T20I is coming up on Sunday, and with the series already in the bag, Pakistan will be looking to make it a clean sweep in front of the home crowd.
